Em seu novo livro, que será publicado em breve, o cientista britânico Stephen Hawking disse que o Big Bang foi uma conseqüência natural das leis da física e que Deus não teve nenhum papel na criação do universo.

Em “The Great Design” (“O Grande Projeto”, em tradução livre), que teve trechos publicados pelo jornal britânico “The Times”, Hawking afirma que “a criação espontânea é a razão que temos o universo que conhecemos, em vez de não ter nada”.
