The Argentine Church rejects gay marriage.
The marriage of the Argentine Alex Freyre and José Maria Di Bello has not only aroused the pride of the gay community in Latin America, but the concern and condemnation of the Catholic Church in Argentina, whose moral authority is now seriously disputed because of growing scandals of pedophilia in the priesthood.
Criticism by the Argentine Catholic Church of gay marriage is not new. Commenting on the debate generated by the decision of a Buenos Aires court that ruled in favor of the marriage of Freyre and Di Bello, the Bishops’ Conference said in a statement that the attempt to legalize gay marriage is “a grave injustice to the extent that it attempts to artificially equalize different human realities.”
