U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has said that the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Khan, “is obviously not in a position” to lead the IMF following allegations made against him for attempted rape.

Geithner said the twenty-four-member IMF executive board would appoint a replacement on an interim basis.

At the moment John Lipsky has been replacing Strauss-Khan since he was arrested last weekend.
