Le texte de compromis dont les mots ont été choisis avec soin condamne toute la violence et tous les actes de terrorisme dirigés contre la population civile sans désigner explicitement les tirs de roquettes du Hamas.

La résolution approuvée demande la réouverture des points de passage pour permettre aux travailleurs humanitaires d’atteindre plus facilement les gens dans le besoin.

Le texte salut aussi l’initiative du président égyptien Hosni Moubarak et les autres efforts régionaux et internationaux pour soulager les effets de la violence.

The UN asks for a cease fire in the Gaza Strip.

Since an American veto would have been badly interpreted in the Arab world, during the vote yesterday, Washington abstained from casting a veto on the resolution that demands a cease fire on the Gaza Strip.

The text of the compromise, whose words were carefully selected, condemns all the violence and all the acts of terrorism directed against the civilian population without designating explicitly the rockets launched by Hamas.

The approved resolution asks for the reopening of passageways to allow humanitarian workers to more easily get to people in need of aid.

The text also salutes the initiative of the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and the other regional and international efforts to alleviate the effects of the violence.
