Forsan nostre automobiles nos occidera.

(Languages of this post: Interlingua, English)

In le occidente, practicas verde deveni de plus in plus popular.

Sic transit gloria vitae humanae.

Maybe our automobiles are going to kill us.

In the West, going green (is becoming)/(is getting to be) more and more popular. But the Populations of China and India have fallen in love with automobile culture. Both countries have populations that are larger/greater than a billion people. Their economies are expanding, producing middle classes that are getting bigger and bigger. Naturally these populations are convinced that they have a right to the products of industrialization just like the populations of the northern hemisphere of our planet. Among these products, perhaps the most important one is the automobile.

In India, the company Tata Motors is now introducing its People's Car, which is being sold at only $2,500 (two thousand five hundred dollars), the lowest price for a four-wheeled vehicle.

In the next twelve years, some economists predict that more than 150,000,000 (one hundred fifty million) Indians will be buying cars, and China probabily will have 140,000,000 (one hundred forty million) working cars in the year 2020 (twenty twenty).

If this prediction is accurate, our climatologists say that it will be impossible to significantly reduce the gases that (are heating up our atmosphere)/(are heating our atmosphere up).

"This is something that worries me a lot," said Faith Birol, the principal economist for the International Energy Agency. "We have only five or ten years before the ongoing heating of our atmosphere becomes irreversible." Sic transit gloria vitae humanae.
